I hate these questions because they don't have any logic to them
One purple petal stays stationary while the other two move toward it. The two petals going toward the stationary one move opposite each other moving one petal at a time. The answer will overlap one petal.

Petals 2 move clockwise and petals 3 move counterclockwise.
It should have stated that the petals could merge.
